The world’s most important international political conference will be held this week at the UN headquarters in New York! In the next two weeks, we will introduce some of the behind-the-scenes staff of the UN General Assembly, which is called the World Cup in the diplomatic world! In the course of this series, we will first introduce you to the various departments within the United Nations and how they are preparing for the busiest time of the United Nations.

At the beginning of the man, the words are first. At almost all meetings hosted by the United Nations, speakers spoke in one of the six official languages of the United Nations — Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish — and simultaneously (accurately, immediately ) translated into five other languages. The staff of the Interpretation Service is responsible for ensuring that all delegates and others present at the meeting are able to understand what others are saying and that they are interpreting almost as they are speaking.

This time, we had the opportunity to interview Huang Yi, a Chinese interpreter at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. After successfully passing the high-level interpreting global selection test, he successfully joined the United Nations in 2016. Since the interpreting work requires very high professional knowledge, Huang Yi will reveal to us how to successfully perform the rigorous and important interpretation work of the UN General Assembly.
