The pedagogical model of UFSB is the result of an innovative proposal for higher education in Brazil. The main innovations of our project are: 1. Cycle System - with a curriculum architecture organized in three cycles, the student will be first introduced to broad areas of knowledge. After this first interdisciplinary "cycle" students can proceed to a professional or academic bachelor degree, as a second step - or cycle - of development. Lastly, there is the possibility of a third step/cycle of development in our post-grad courses. 2.

We started a language education program (Portuguese as a Foreign Language) in order to support those students' adaptation to the academic community, as well as their own personal communities.
