St. Xavier’s College for Women, Aluva, an Arts, Commerce and Science College, affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, is situated in the southern district of Kerela, India. Our college is run by the Sisters of Congregation of Teresian Carmelites (CTC). Since its inception in the year 1964, it promulgated the visionary zeal of the Congregation of CTC and its foundress Servant of God, Mother Elishwa. Over the last five decades it has proved its mettle as an institution of higher education scaffolding the upliftment of minority communities in the state.
Please describe briefly any activities your institution is already carrying out, which are relevant to UNAI and its principles: 
Heralding the emergence of an enlightened family, community, society, state and nation our institution run by The Congregation of Teresian Carmalites (CTC) facilitated the education of girls in a secular way. Denying education is denying one’s birthright. Reiterating the power of education, Servant of God, Mother Eliswa, foundress of CTC, who hailed from a village in Kerala conceptualised an educational system till then inaccessible to the weaker sex. From its humble beginning, our institution has scaled and escalated hurdles, equipped enough to meet the genuine demands of the society.

UNIVASF is an institution linked to the Ministry of Education of Brazil that was created by Law no. 10473 of June 27, 2002, starting to work two years latter. The Universidade Federal do Cariri (UFCA) is a public university based in Juazeiro do Norte (Ceará state, Brazil), with three advanced campus in Crato, Barbalha and Brejo Santo (cities in the same state). UFCA now has 23 options of undergraduate courses, and 13 master’s and 2 doctoral degree courses, in all areas of knowledge. More than 2,600 students walk around its campus on a daily basis. The Dean of Research, Postgraduate and Innovation (PRPI) encourages and promotes scientific and technological research in various areas of knowledge in order to contribute to the sustainable regional development of Cariri, especially focusing on the interdisciplinarity of research topics. In these six years of existence, the articulated action of PRPI, in partnership with UFCA researchers, has allowed the emergence of 70 Research Groups, involving researchers, technicians, undergraduate and graduate students in 371 research projects.
