It was built with the most modern technology available for the operation of higher education institutions. Inatel is a degree granting institution of higher education founded in 1965 in Santa Rita do Sapucai, Brazil, that offered the first Brazilian Telecommunications Engineering undergraduate course. Later, it has incorporated new courses seen as innovative to the country, such as Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering and so forth. Nowadays, it offers ten undergraduate engineering and technology programs, as well as Master and Doctoral degrees in Telecommunications.

Inatel created a center called Cas@ Viva (translating from Portuguese to Live House) for teaching technology, ethics and sustainability to young students of public elementary schools. In this center, Inatel’s engineering students, tutored by professionals from different specialities, lead activities of algorithms and robotics, use of recycled materials to design new projects, proper communication between intercultural groups and so forth.
