USEK students delegation visits UNIFIL

UNAI Member USEK sent this account of a student visit to UNIFIL. The Student Affairs Office of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik-Lebanon (USEK) has organized, with the help of a group of students, a field visit for a students delegation to the Korean Contingent in the United Nations Interim Forces. The Contingent ROKBATT is stationed in Tayr debba-South of Lebanon. The visit was organized within the framework of UNAI and on the occasion of the International Day of the United Nations Peacekeepers.

The aim was to promote the culture of Peace in the spirit and minds of the students, for them to become positive actors in the society by helping their countrymen to work toward achieving this long awaited peace, understand and appreciate the magnificent heroic role that UN Peacekeepers are playing in this troubled area of Lebanon.

The visit was successful and granted the students the opportunity to interact with the Commander of the Korean Contingent Colonel HA JONG SIK and the officers on the role of the Contingent in this area, watch a movie on the UNIFIL operations in the world, and on Korea as a country. As the delegation enjoyed magnificent Drums and taekwondo performances by the Contingent staff, more interaction and questions took place in the conference room and  over the lunch that was offered by the Commander in honour of the students.
