University of Bergen will host conference on the Sustainable Development Goals

7 September 2018 - The University of Bergen (Norway), a member institution of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), will host the 2nd National SDG Conference from 7 - 8 February 2019. It aims to draw together concerned, disparate and converging views on how knowledge, science, education and institutions need innovative and radical rethinking in order to provide foundations for the global collaborative work needed to engage and work with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Over two days, Norway’s research and higher education sector brings together national and international speakers from academia, government, civil society, activism and the United Nations system, to explore the roles of research and education in creating new approaches for shared commitments to a sustainable global future. The annual event was initiated by the University of Bergen and planned in dialogue with other Norwegian universities and the Norwegian Government.

SDG Bergen, a strategic initiative of the University of Bergen that was created in order to engage with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) encompassing science diplomacy and scientific advice, acts as the day to day programming committee and secretariat for the conference.
