Please provide a brief description of your academic structure: 
The Federal University of Piauí is the largest educational institution of the state. It has five campuses, which are located in the cities of Teresina, Parnaíba, Picos, Bom Jesus and Floriano. The university offers undergraduate and graduate courses in all fields (Health, Technologies, Natural Sciences, Languages, Arts and Humanities). Most of the professors have Ph.D. degrees and are currently involved in several research projects, nationally and internationally. The university offers important services to engage and help the community, providing health, educational and humanitarian services. Our mission is to develop professionals and citizens that can contribute to economic, political, social and cultural development of the society.
Please describe briefly any activities your institution is already carrying out, which are relevant to UNAI and its principles: 
The study of how human activities on land are affecting feedback to the earth system, and the response of the human-environment system to global environmental change and sustainability, in developing countries, and more specifically on the case of tropical forest‐agriculture frontiers in the Brazilian biomes, and their interactions with the local communities and possible pathways to global sustainability. The study of human aging as a biopsychosocial phenomenon, specially for more vulnerable population and factors related to class, gender and race-ethnicity. Actions to fight against isolation, loneliness, family bonds fragility, rights violations using social services and policies. The study of the impacts of the occupation of coast zones and their utilization for financial benefits, considering how this phenomenon has affected the seashore ecosystems. Development of projects to analyze and prevent negative impacts, such as the modification of the superficial run-off, subterraneous drainage, natural areas deforestation, soil impermeabilization and others.
