UNIVERSIDAD CATOLICA ANDRÉS BELLO (UCAB) is a higher education institution founded in Caracas the 24th of October 1953 by the Society of Jesus. FACILITIES UCAB MONTALBAN: Main campus of the university is located at the southwestern limit of the Caracas Valley at Montalban. The campus has 310,000 square meters of which 75,000 are dedicated to classrooms, laboratories, computer labs, library, auditorium, sports facilities, food fairs, coffee shops, administration services and parking, and 35,000 square meters of green areas and path walks. COMMUNITY CENTER PADRE MANUEL AGUIRRE S.J: Just across main campus, several organizations’ coexist aiming to contribute to the improvement of life conditions of less favored neighboring communities. Among them Centro de Salud Santa Inés, a medical attention center for the community. UCAB GUAYANA: is the UCAB campus located in Puerto Ordaz, Estado Bolivar. It is the second largest campus in both extension and number of students. With over 2000 students, the academic offer includes Business administration, Social Sciences, Social Communication, Law, Education as well as Civil, Industrial and Computer Engineering. It also offers several options for postgraduate studies such as Business Administration, Management, Law, History and Industrial Engineering (http://guayanaweb.ucab.edu.ve). UCAB LOS TEQUES, UCAB LA CASTELLANA, ITER-UCAB: UCAB has three other campuses located in Caracas, and Miranda state. SECRETARIAT OF INTERNATIONALIZATION INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS: Every year hundreds of UCAB Students attend more than 20 international competitions. INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS AND AGREEMENTS: UCAB maintains agreements of academic cooperation and partnerships with more than 30 universities and organizations in the Americas, the Caribbean, and Europe. Also, UCAB is a member of the Association of universities entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America - inter-university network on a voluntary basis which articulates to 30 universities and institutions of higher education in 14 countries in Latin America. CENTER FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGES DEVELOPMENT: it holds a wide range of language programs with an emphasis on Spanish and English as foreign languages. INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY PROGRAM: summer programs and exchanges up to two semesters in any of more than 30 allied universities from Latin America, United States, Germany, France, and Spain. This program offers to UCAB’s and foreign students the possibility to complement the human formation and academic training acquiring a global vision of today’s society and challenges. ACADEMIC TRAINING AND EXTENSION: leveling courses and programs and academic complementarity. INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL ACTUALIZATION: certificates, professional upgrade, and short programs offered by the International Center for Professional Actualization (CIAP). UCAB CONSULTING: organizational consulting and assessment at all entrepreneurship areas offered to the productive and institutional sectors of the country and the world. INSTITUTES AND RESEARCH CENTERS ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL SCIENCES RESEARCH INSTITUTE: it develops research themes in the areas of economics, labor relations, demography, policies, poverty, and violence. HISTORY RESEARCH INSTITUTE: it researches on the territorial history of Venezuela, history of the church in Venezuela, history of mentalities, history of the ideas in the Americas, history of linguistics in Venezuela, history of the family, history of the genre in Hispanic America, and foreign relations history of Venezuela and Latin America. INSTITUTE OF LEGAL RESEARCH: it engages in the research of children’s rights, economic delinquency, administration of justice, citizen’s safety, and delinquency control. CENTER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS: it is oriented towards the research within the areas of freedom of speech and information, refugees’ human rights, right to participation, and Inter-American Human Rights. RESEARCH CENTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS: it is committed to the research of the history of journalism, information and communication technology, media and social representation, political communication, freedom of speech as well as community-based journalism. ENGINEER RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER: it develops projects within the areas of environmental education and non-formal education, through information and communication technologies. CENTER FOR HUMANISTIC RESEARCH AND TRAINING: mainly focuses on three areas: values, democracy, and youth culture. INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH AND ASSESSMENT CENTER: analyzes and evaluates the development of academic excellence in UCAB ONLINE STUDIES CENTER: responsible for the development of the online academic offer supported by ICT. LIBRARY AND UNIVERSITY PRESS: 350,000 volumes and near 1,000 published titles from UCAB Press; it promotes and communicates UCAB Research. STUDENT DEVELOPMENT The Office of the Dean for Student Development contributes to personal, professional and community-based training, development of the students. CENTER FOR COUNSELING AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT: responsible for promoting the psychological growth of the members of UCAB community and strengthening comprehensive professionals training. CULTURE: responsible for channeling student´s artistic interests through a variety of cultural groups such as the UCAB Choir, Chamber Group, Theater Club, Storyteller, and the folk and contemporary dances, among others. ATHLETICS: more than 1,000 square meters of facilities in which students may play sports such as basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, kicking ball, rugby and tae kwon and aikido. PASTORAL: in charge of encouraging and promoting life experiences which will feed contemplation, generate bonding and cultivate spiritual values and commitment. COMMUNITY OUTREACH: responsible for coordinating the volunteering groups of teachers and students from UCAB Schools who work on a number of projects and programs for social action in the areas of entrepreneurship, strengthening of organizations & community-based enterprises, strengthening of telematic networks, consulting of civil works, management of solid waste and protection of the environment, legal advice, counseling, and education, and all actions aiming to develop socially vulnerable communities surrounding UCAB.
Please describe briefly any activities your institution is already carrying out, which are relevant to UNAI and its principles: 
To offer a higher education opportunity for every interested individual UCAB has a scholarship fund that beneficiates the 30% of its student population. To fighting poverty through education UCAB has the COMMUNITY CENTER PADRE MANUEL AGUIRRE S.J: Just across the UCAB main campus, several organizations’ coexist aiming to contribute to the improvement of living conditions of less favored neighboring communities. Among them Centro de Salud Santa Inés, a medical attention center for the community; Also a number of programs like psychological therapy, school support for children and young people out of the regular educational system; legal consulting and defense of human rights; solidarity economy, etc. For the defense of Human Rights UCAB has The Human Rights Center permanently observed, recorded and complaint to the competent organizations all the violations of human rights committed by the government in charge. Also, working in conjunction with the Faculty of Law and the Social Community Center Juridical Clinic represents the victims of these violations. For the development of a global citizenship, the Secretariat of Internationalization designed a comprehensive internationalization model that includes several strategies for the development in our students of a global-minded and different vision of the world and a set of global competencies. UCAB also has the Direction of sustainability and environment which is responsible for the sustainable campus program and the development of conservationist competencies in all the community members.
