UNAI member Sabancı University to co-host CSW62 side-event

14 March 2018 – In collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) member institution Sabancı University will co-host a panel discussion on “Private Sector: Agents of Change on Gender Equality, Private Sector Collaboration on Promoting Gender Equality and Combating Gender-Based Violence in Turkey” that will take place on 19 March 2018 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The discussion is taking place on the margins of the sixty-second session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62).

Moderated by Luis Mora, UNFPA Head of Gender, Human Rights and Culture Branch, the discussion will focus on the persisting gender imbalance in labour market, specifically in the Turkish context, and on UNFPA work to address this issue, as well as the ways in which private sector companies can address gender inequality in working life. Professor Sevda Alkan of Sabancı University will talk about the Business against Domestic Violence Project. Other panelists will include Mariarosa Cutillo, UNFPA Strategic Partnership Branch Chief and representatives of several non-governmental organizations.
