Screening of the documentary film “Naila and the Uprising” at United Nations Headquarters

On 7 March at UNHQ, on the margin of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will host a side event featuring the screening of a documentary film titled “Naila and the Uprising” on the role of Palestinian women during the first intifada, followed by a discussion with some of the protagonists and other panelists.

On the eve of International Women's Day and the sixty-third session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) and the Permanent Observer Mission of the State of Palestine to the United Nations cordially invite you to a screening of “Naila and the Uprising”, an award-winning film from the team at Just Vision, directed by Julia Bacha.

When a nation-wide uprising breaks out in 1987, a woman in Gaza must make a choice between love, family and freedom. Undaunted, she embraces all three, joining a network of women on the frontlines.The film brings to the fore the leading role of women in the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and freedom.

The film will be screened in the Conference Room 2, March 7 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm EST. Join us after the film for a panel discussion with filmmaker, Julia Bacha, producer, Rula Salameh, and protagonist, Zahira Kamal.
