Human Rights Week organized by the University of Geneva to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the UDHR

1 November 2018 - The University of Geneva (Switzerland)a member institution of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), is organizing through its Global Studies Institute and with the support of the Foreign Affairs Office, the canton of Geneva and the Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, the Human Rights Week. It will take place from 13 - 17 November 2018 ahead of the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). 

The Human Rights Week will include a public lecture by Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, five round tables on: migration and international solidarity; being a human rights defender; innovations in defending and promoting human rights; Syria; and the human rights responsibilities of multinational corporations. There will be as well four theater performances, a conference on human rights and cyberspace, and, a human rights debate with high school students.

The Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva was established in 2013, with an interdisciplinary approach for the study of international and regional relations in order to better understand the new complex challenges of the contemporary world as a whole. GSI students benefit from instruction offered by nearly 150 teaching and research collaborators and some 90 professors from the various faculties of the University of Geneva.
