Forecast of the World Economy featured in new UN report

29 May 2018 - The Economic Analysis and Policy Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) launched this month the World Economic Situation and Prospects as of mid-2018.

According to the study, short-term prospects for the world economy have continued to improve, the world gross product is expected to expand by at least 3.2% and the world trade growth has been accelerated.

However there are some areas are of concern such as rising geopolitical and trade tensions as well as increased uncertainty over monetary policies in developed economies. Plus, some countries and regions face various challenges.

The relationship between these numbers and the risks for developing countries and potential impacts on the Sustainable Development Goals, are also featured in the report, which states that "stronger economic growth in itself is not sufficient".
