Call for Entries: 'Health for All' Film Festival

The World Health Organization (WHO) invites film makers to be part of its first-ever Health for All Film Festival on the occasion of the 73rd World Health Assembly to be held in Geneva from 18 to 23 May 2020. The Festival aims to put storytelling power in the hands of people and seeks to showcase the role of individuals and communities as champions for health and well-being. 


Film makers are required to submit a short video for one of the following categories:

  • Category 1: Video reports showing human-interest stories and testimonies about individuals or groups of people navigating a local or global health challenge, championing solutions, or driving change (3-8 minutes long).
  • Category 2: Animation videos showing testimonials, challenges and/or solutions in achieving health for all, or educating about a health issue (1-5 minutes long).
  • Category 3: Videos about nurses and midwives showing daily realities of their work and/or how they impact people’s lives, in any audiovisual narration style (3-8 minutes long). WHO has designated 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.

Deadline for submission is 30 January 2020. Please note that only videos created between 1 January 2017 and 30 January 2020 are eligible for this festival.  


  • Production companies or individuals 18 years or older are eligible to participate. Individuals under 18 years of age may participate with permission from their parents or legal guardians.
  • Students must provide proof of enrollment in a high school or educational institution during the period of creating the video. There will be a special prize for videos made by students
  • Applicants cannot be staff of any United Nations System Organizations or have any direct ties with tobacco or arms industries. Videos funded by UN agencies will NOT be accepted.

Maximum 15 videos per category will be selected for the Health for All Film Festival awards. The videos will be screened during the 73rd World Health Assembly in Geneva in May 2020 in Geneva. The selected videos will be announced in March 2020.
