American University of Beirut will host the Global Health Forum 2018

12 October 2018 - The American University of Beirut (Lebanon), a member institution of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), will host the Global Health Forum 2018: Innovative Approaches to Global Health Challenges in Low and Middle-Income countries (LMICS) between 1 - 2 November 2018 at the university. The event is intended to create an open platform for innovators among policy makers, global health professionals, academics and the private sector.

The Forum aims to draw special attention to global health challenges in LMICs most of which are geographically located in the Global South. The past decades have witnessed significant strides in global health, yet around two thirds of total deaths worldwide are attributed to preventable and treatable diseases, with the highest burden found in LMICs and among women and children.

Innovative approaches and technologies play a vital role in saving lives, improving overall health outcomes around the world and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Forum will focus on initiatives and approaches addressing six of the Goals including: good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, industry innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, and partnerships for the Goals.
