12th Global Awareness Conference organized by the State University of New York - Oswego

7 November 2018 - The State University of New York - SUNY Oswego (United States), a member institution of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) is organizing for this Friday and Saturday, 9 and 10 November 2018, the 12th Global Awareness Conference, which is a day and a half on campus conference that gives students, faculty, staff, and members of the local community the opportunity to learn about other cultures and global issues as well as present on topics they are passionate about.

Presentations will cover issues such as education as a human right, immigration and refugees, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, just to name a few, aside cultural and social key aspects of some countries and information about study abroad opportunities, academic exchanges and the role of global education to engage students with multiple perspectives and dimensions to enhance cultural competence, expand worldviews, and promote deep understandings of world events.

The keynote speaker will be Suki Kim, an investigative journalist and novelist, who will speak about the situation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. She has wrote quite extensively about the current political situation in such country and her many articles and essays have appeared in various U.S. newspapers and media outlets.
